Home water…

Home water is now the Lower Sac, not the Kukaklek River in Alaska.  And it’s not that bad…
Fishing is NOT what it should be right now… the salmon are few and far between.  Trout are not where they should be for late October.  On a 1-to-10 scale, fishing is a 6 at best right now.
Hoping for some rain and a few more salmon spawning to get things where they should be.  Soon.

Gone back to “Cali”

Home.  My own bed. It’s nice. Very nice. Warmth and sunshine is also very awsome.  And rest is good.
Back to work on the Lower Sac by Tuesday.  Guide for trout a couple days, then off to the Tropics.  Bonefish time.  Maybe even permit and tarpon too.   No bears down there.  Which is good.

Other angler trying to sneak in on my water !! Don’t try this at home… or anywhere.

Surreal….

Today is my last day guiding in AK.  Clients leave tomorrow, we leave the next day.  Back to civilization.  Gonna be hard to leave this place after so long and so much hard work.  Fishing is still great…. check this pic of Craig’s fish from yesterday !!!

As the hat says….

The proof is in the pudding. We need these trout around for generations. More than we need copper and gold.

Gagger time….

Time of the year that the big fish…really big fish, come around the lodge….  some are fat, some are not.. but they’re all big compared to Cali standards.

Spey is the way.  Swing is the thing.  Tug is the drug.

Good times…..good times I tell ya.

We’re coming to the end of the season soon.  Small stream egg bite is ending soon…swing season is kicking back into shape a little.  We’re on one-hundred something days.  Only about 12 days until I’m back in the ‘lower 48′.  It’s been a good ride.  Time for some bonefishing and sunshine !!!
Goooood stuff

This blows…

The wind is howling. Again.  Day two of waking up in a rocking bed.  The whole lodge moves when it blows like this.  We couldn’t even fish yesterday.  Standing upright was a challenge.  Boating to our favorite stream(s) was outta the question.  I’m hoping this crap lays down for a bit today so we can get our clients on some smoking good trout fishing.  And it’s good right now.  Really good. Big fish. Lots of big fish.

We watched movies yesterday…  Eastern Rises, Red Gold, etc….  fishing type movies.

We learned, again, that this guy gets the A$$HOLE of the year award for the third year in a row.  Bruce Jenkins, the prick who thinks that the Pebble Mine won’t harm the environment in any way.   Are you serious ? REALLY ??  I could go off on this guy, but I’ll bite my tounge. This is a family site.  Just watch the movie Red Gold and form your own opinon.

Not all ‘bows are in water…

Snaggletooth

They get in our way. They steal our gear. They stink up the streams. They feed the bears. They provide food for the trout.  We have a love/hate relationship with ‘em.
But they are kinda cool looking.  Just keep your fingers away from their mouths.
